Why Community Matters For Spiritual Growth

1. Stronger Emotional Well-being and Healing

Community provides a space where vulnerability is welcomed, helping you process emotions and heal faster. Sharing your journey with others who understand can be a powerful tool for emotional support.

2. Improved Longevity and Health

Spiritual growth isn’t just about the mind—it also has physical benefits. The emotional support and sense of belonging found in spiritual communities can reduce stress and contribute to better overall health.

3. Higher Levels of Happiness and Fulfillment

Engaging in a community that shares your spiritual beliefs provides a sense of fulfillment and connection, leading to greater happiness. Being supported in your journey helps you feel more aligned with your values.

4. Inspiration and Motivation to Grow

Spiritual communities provide ongoing inspiration and accountability. Being around others who are passionate about growth can help you stay motivated, even during challenging times.

5. Shared Wisdom And Learning Opportunities

Learning from others in your community accelerates your spiritual growth. You gain different perspectives, insights, and wisdom that can deepen your understanding of your own spiritual path.

6. A Sense of Belonging and Purpose

Community helps you feel like you’re part of something bigger than yourself. This shared sense of purpose fosters a deep feeling of belonging, which is vital for both spiritual and emotional growth.

Step into the light of your own becoming, where souls gather to grow and spirits soar.

Additional Benefits of Group Coaching

  • A safe place to explore an online community that values spirituality.

  • A context for talking with others about spirituality without having to prioritize any kind of traditional belief or worldview.

  • The coaching presence allows for a framing of conversation that draws connections between spiritual perspectives, personal experiences and the value of emotional healing, health, and vibrancy.

  • Cost Effectiveness – Group coaching is generally more affordable than private one-on-one coaching since the cost is split among multiple participants.

  • The community focus of the group provides a built-in support system. You can share experiences, get feedback, and be motivated by other members who are also working towards healing and growth.

  • Diverse perspectives with a variety of people – you get exposed to different viewpoints, backgrounds, and approaches to goals and challenges. This can spark new insights.

  • Others can track with you regarding your growth journey. The group dynamic fosters a sense of shared journey that can help reinforce the need to push through certain challenges – to show up, participate fully, and follow through on commitments. ‘Accountability’ is a word that could be used here but it tends to have a negative association for people working through their hurtful experiences with traditional religion.

  • Growth skills around listening and sharing. The more time we spend sharing personal experiences and listening to those of others, the better we become at holding space for more people in our lives to be seen and heard.

Helpful Answers to Important Questions

How is group coaching different from group therapy and do they ever overlap?

Just like with individual coaching and therapy, group coaching is going to be focused on goals and action steps while group therapy (lead by a licensed mental health provider) will be more focused on healing, mental health, and emotional regulation in a group context. That being said, healing does happen in our community groups. As you read in the statistics above, the power of human connection and support is potent. It can naturally heal our emotional/psychological without that being the conscious intent. And of course, therapy can include looking toward the future just as coaching does. So yes, the content and effects can have some overlap.

How do you know if someone in the community group might need individual therapy and, if so, how do you address it?

Since our group is a supportive space for spiritual exploration and growth, I always encourage members to be mindful of how they’re feeling and what they need. If someone in the group seems to be struggling with deeper emotional challenges—like trauma, anxiety, or unresolved pain—I’ll approach the situation with care and sensitivity. I’ll have a private conversation to gently suggest they might benefit from individual therapy, or I may offer a referral to someone I trust, like Alicia, who specializes in religious trauma and healing. I want everyone in the group to feel supported, and if that means guiding someone toward more personalized help, I’m here to make sure they get the care they need. The group is a safe space for spiritual growth, and I’ll always ensure that anyone who needs extra support gets the resources they deserve.

How do I know if this group will be a safe space for me to explore my spiritual beliefs without fear of judgment or pressure?

To get straight to the point, I’ve been in your shoes—I spent over 25 years as a leader in churches and often felt on the outskirts because of my untraditional beliefs that evolved to the point where I needed to step away to fully embrace who I was. That experience has shaped my mission to create a community where everyone can show up authentically, regardless of their background or beliefs. Whether you’re still exploring or have already stepped away from traditional systems, this group is about mutual respect, support, and freedom to explore your spiritual path without any expectations or constraints. My goal is to ensure that every member feels heard, valued, and safe, no matter where they are on their journey.

Is this group more about learning new spiritual concepts or about fostering genuine connections with others on a similar journey?

This group is really about fostering genuine connections with others who are on a similar journey, and creating a space where you can explore and grow spiritually in a way that feels authentic to you. While I do have a background in religion, philosophy, meditation, and mindfulness, and can provide education and resources for those who are interested, the focus will always be on supporting you where you are. I’ll never push any particular beliefs or practices on anyone. Instead, the group is a place to share, reflect, and engage with others in a way that honors your personal spiritual path. If you’re interested in learning new concepts or tools along the way, I’m here to offer guidance, but you’ll always have the freedom to take what resonates and leave the rest.

Do I have to have experience with traditional religion to be a part of the community?

Absolutely not! While I often attract those who have been termed “ex-vangelicals”, you are welcome no matter your religious or spiritual background. Remember, the point is for everyone to support each person’s journey together – no matter from where it comes or where it leads.
